The Romanian was suspended during a doping probe and now faces a long ban.

Halep was automatically withdrew from the US Open due to her drug suspension and will now take a forced break after two abnormal tests.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency [ITIA] revealed on Tuesday that an impartial tribunal had sentenced the former Wimbledon champion for two incidences.

At last year's US Open, a routine urine test revealed roxadustat, her first banned substance.

 It increases hemoglobin and red blood cell synthesis. It is a blood doping substance on WADA's Prohibited Substance list but is usually used to treat anemia.
