Seattle Mariners poised to make baseball history and do something not seen in 80 years

On Thursday, the Seattle Mariners were tied for first place in the American League West.

The M's are tied for first place in the AL West with the Houston Astros at 76-57 and are vying for their first division title since 2001.

The Mariners' starting pitching has been the primary reason for their success this season.

While the offense took off in August, the starters have been solid all year, even in the loss of Marco Gonzales and Robbie Ray, both of whom are out for the season due to injuries.

With a WHIP of 1.00, Luis Castillo leads MLB, while George Kirby is second at 1.03. Logan Gilbert is sixth with a score of 1.05.

If the Mariners want to win the notoriously difficult AL West, their starters must continue to dominate.

The M's have a challenging final month of the season ahead of them, as they face playoff contenders such as the Reds and Dodgers,

as well as the Rangers and Astros in their final ten games. On Friday night, the Mariners will play the Mets.
