Jets Work Out Polarizing Ex-Giants $72 Million WR: Report

On Wednesday, September 6, the New York Jets brought in former New York Giants pass catcher Kenny Golladay for a workout.

NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero broke the story first on X (formerly Twitter). The 29-year-old wideout was most recently with Big Blue,

where he signed a four-year deal worth $72 million with a total guarantee of $40 million in 2021.

Golladay only lasted two seasons with the Giants, who were plagued by injuries and inconsistency. From 2021 to 2022, he appeared in 26 of the possible 34 games.

The former Northern Illinois product hauled in 43 receptions for 602 yards and only one touchdown throw.

With the Detroit Lions, Golladay established himself as a hidden gem. He was drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft as the 96th overall pick.

Golladay's first four seasons in Detroit were remarkable, revealing hints of what he can bring to the table.

He hauled in 21 touchdowns and caught 226 receptions for 3,670 yards. He was noted for making big plays, averaging more than 16.8 yards per reception.

The Giants released him on March 15, and he has been an unrestricted free agent for months.SNY's Connor Hughes described the Jets' workout with Golladay as "kicking the tires."

"The Jets did lose Corey Davis, and I believe they could benefit from another veteran presence." Someone who has already been there and done that.
