The Jets will at least temporarily move on from Tim Boyle now that the top two slots on their quarterback depth chart have been filled.
Boyle has four seasons of regular season experience, all of which have occurred in the NFC North
He spent 2019 and 2020 with the Packers before moving on to one-year stints with the Lions and Bears.
Boyle joined with the Jets in April as the organization tried to find a high-end veteran starter.
That desire was met later that month with the trade of Aaron Rodgers, which put the latter in the starting lineup.
New York still has previous No. 2 pick Zach Wilson on the roster, and he will serve as the team's backup during Rodgers' stint in New York,
which is expected to run at least through the 2023 and '24 seasons. With those two on the roster in the short term, Boyle will be left on the outside looking in.
Boyle, according to Fowler, will most likely be a practice squad candidate if no other teams show much interest in him while they make their own roster decisions.
