The San Francisco 49ers and Nick Bosa are still negotiating a contract.
According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, there is cause to be optimistic about the 2023 season.
"Nick Bosa and the 49ers, a little bit more optimism here," Fowler remarked on ESPN.
"People I've talked to believe he'll be the highest-paid defensive player in the league,
surpassing (Aaron) Donald's 31-plus million if they can pull this off."
The 49ers would prefer to have this done before Week 1, but it's not a sure thing.
A transaction of this size involves a lot of nuances."
Bosa is one of the league's greatest defensive players. According to Fowler, Bosa might become the "highest paid defensive player" in the NFL.
Offering Bosa a substantial contract now, at the age of 25, makes sense.
Although any huge contract carries some risk, the 49ers star's age will not be an issue.
