Giants’ Legend Gave $4 Million to Former Players in Need: Author

Bill Parcells remains devoted to his former New York Giants teammates. According to author Gary Myers, the Hall of Fame head coach has gone

above and above to assist some of players who suited up for Big Blue during his career from 1983 to 1991.

Parcells has loaned up to $4 million to as many as 20 NFL players he has worked with.

Myers, the author of "Once a Giant: A Story of Victory, Tragedy, and Life After Football," appeared on WFAN's "Boomer & Gio"show (h/t the New York Post's Ryan Glasspiegel) to explain:

"It's just incredibly generous what he's done with these guys." Bill has loaned $4 million to 20 former players

who have come to him during this financial crisis. Bill understands that when they come to him, it is as a final resort."

Although Myers informed Parcells that the debts were unlikely to be returned, the two-time Super Bowl champion is willing to accept defeat:

"'Bill, you know, $4 million, you don't expect anyone to pay you back.'" 'What are you thinking?' And he added, 'These guys have sacrificed so much for me with their bodies and commitment.'"
