The Atlanta Falcons have reached the point in the season when they, like the rest of the NFL, must reduce their roster to 53 players
The deadline is Tuesday... yet some decisions are already being made on Saturday.
Among them is Atlanta's decision to release offensive tackle Jalen Mayfield.
According to many reports, Mayfield, defensive lineman Justin Ellis and Delontae Scott, and cornerback Bless Austin are the early cuts ahead of the deadline on Tuesday.
After impressing scouts as a lineman at the University of Michigan, Mayfield was taken in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
In 2021, the former Wolverine was catapulted into Atlanta's starting lineup at left guard after Josh Andrews, who was supposed to start, was injured.
Mayfield started 16 games at left guard for the Falcons, but many thought he wasn't ready for such a big job,
and it showed if you believe his Pro Football Focus player grade of 48.7.
