18 September (UPI) -- Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, met with Elon Musk on Sunday in New York ,
in a bid to convince the billionaire businessman to establish a new Tesla manufacturing facility in Turkey.
Erdogan spent the weekend in the US in preparation for the UN General Assembly meeting on Tuesday.
He sat down with Musk to discuss potential future partnerships, such as Musk's idea to establish ,
a new Tesla factory in Turkey and SpaceX's proposal to use artificial intelligence to collaborate with Turkey's space program.
The discussion was held in Turkish House in Manhattan, which houses the Turkish diplomatic ,
mission and is a 36-floor skyscraper across from the United Nations building.
