DLC for 'The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom' is not planned.

There was a lot of discussion over whether Tears of the Kingdom is essentially a "expansion" for Breath of the Wild

because it uses the same map and expands on the same region (with floating islands and underground caverns).

Despite this, almost everyone believes that it is a completely new game and a top candidate for GOTY (the sole one until Baldur's Gate 3 came around).

However, if you were hoping for more DLC content like Breath of the Wild, that is apparently not happening, according to series producer Eiji Aonuma, who spoke to Famitsu.

"There are no plans to release additional content this time, but I believe we've done everything we can to make that world fun."

To begin with, I opted to make this a sequel to the prior work since I thought there was merit in experiencing a new game in that Hyrule location.

If this is the case, we may return to the same universe if a new reason arises. Whether it's a sequel or a new work, I believe it'll be a completely different game, so I hope you're excited about it."

This makes perfect sense. If you were to return to this Hyrule, it would have to be a completely new game, like Tears of the Kingdom, rather than merely DLC added to this one.

However, returning to the same landscape in the same way for the third time seemed to be pushing their luck, as how much more could you really add at this point to overlay a third full game here?

There's also the issue of the Switch 2, and with new Nintendo hardware on the way in the coming years, whatever the new Zelda game is will almost certainly have to be designed with that in mind.
