Derek Carr won’t play in final Saints preseason game
Saints quarterback Derek Carr has played his final preseason game.
Carr will not play against the Texans on Sunday night, according to head coach Dennis Allen.
Carr was 6-of-8 for 70 yards and a touchdown in the team's first preseason game against the Chiefs, and he sat out last weekend's game against the Chargers.
Jameis Winston will take the field against Houston.
Fourth-round draft pick Jake Haener will also see action in his first NFL preseason.
Carr's focus will shift to Week One,
when the Saints visit the Titans in what they hope would be a winning start to Carr's tenure in New Orleans.
