The Dallas Cowboys might benefit from adding a seasoned player from the Buffalo Bills' practice squad.
According to Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox, a free agent that the Cowboys "must pursue" is linebacker Christian Kirksey.
The 31-year-old veteran is now on the Bills' practice squad after being released by the Houston Texans at the end of the preseason.
During the 2022 season, Kirksey was a team captain and was second on the Texans with 124 tackles.
Knox claims that bringing Kirksey in would help compensate for the loss of youngster DeMarvion Overshown, who will miss the 2023 season due to a preseason ACL tear.
"Adding Kirksey would be a great move for a Dallas defense that was inconsistent against the run in 2022," Knox writes.
"DeMarvion Overshown, a rookie third-round pick, was expected to contribute at the second level, but a preseason ACL tear has him looking ahead to 2024."
Kirksey might cover the vacuum left by Overshown's injury, and he should be reasonably priced."One of Kirksey's ambitions, according to Paul Hamilton of WGR 550, is to play for a successful team.
"I want to be a part of a winning culture, so I'm hungry and ready to help out wherever I can," Kirksey explained.
Despite appearing in 112 games with 92 starts over the past nine seasons, Kirksey has only been in two playoff games in his career.
