According to one NBA observer, the Chicago Bulls will sign a long-term replacement for injured point player Lonzo Ball,
who will miss his second consecutive season due to a knee injury.
Both Ball and the Bulls have remained optimistic about a return. However, the most recent treatment to resurrect his career has yet to generate a good return in a few cases.
Incoming USC freshman Isaiah Collier could be the Bulls' solution. "The Bulls figure to be motivated to find an upgrade at point guard,"
Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman said on September 8. "Capable shot-making should be the key to Collier projecting as a top-10 overall pick.
Scouts will buy into his attacking and facilitating translating because of his strong body and assist figures."
Collier is a 6-foot-5, five-star guard prospect who is ranked first in his position both regionally and nationally, as well as atop ESPN's Top-100 list.
Collier, a native of Marietta, Georgia, averaged 19.6 points, 6.8 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game as a senior at Wheeler High School.
"Collier would bring an unusual combination of physical driving and passing to Chicago's backcourt," noted Wasserman.
"As a shooter, he still has work to do, but he showed progress last season." In the proper environment—possibly Chicago's—he may play to his strengths as a driving force and playmaker early on."
